Brief Introduction About Chiayi
Chiayi is located in the central southern region of Taiwan, and it is traditionally called "Chuloshan" by the aborigines which mean a city that is surrounded by many mountains.
In Qing Dynasty (1786), Lin Shuang-wen headed his people to siege Chuloshan, but he failed because of the assisting defense from the inhabitants. Consequently, the Qing Emperor awarded the name "Chiayi" for praising the citizens' loyalty.
The most popular attraction in Chiayi is Mount Ali ( Alishan ) which has splendid clouds and beautiful scenery including sunrises and sunsets. Lear more about Alishan.
